Where Can I Design Christmas Cards Online?
- Canva Christmas Card Maker– this is my favorite FREE online tool to make my Christmas cards. You will need to print them off yourself or you can send digitally to friends and family.
- Shutterfly, Zazzle, Mpix, Minted, VistaPrint– if you don’t want to deal with printing your own cards, you can have them made through any of these websites.
The Holly Jolliest Dog Christmas Card Ideas
1. Dogs in Reindeer Mode
How precious is a dog posing with reindeer antlers? You can buy the antlers online or you can make some adorable antlers out of candy canes. How stinkin’ cute!

2. Whimsical Christmas Lights
Laying Christmas lights around your pup can make such a cute holiday photo. I actually did this a couple years ago with my dog Lacy. Make sure to monitor your pet at all times and never leave them unattended with the lights. I am adding some safety tips to keep in mind below if you choose to go this route.
Safety Tips for Using Lights
Always be mindful of safety first. Here’s how to ensure your pup is safe while you capture that ideal picture:
- Check Temperature: Make sure the lights aren’t too hot. LED lights are a safer choice since they stay cool.
- Prevent Tangling: Arrange the lights so your pup doesn’t get tangled. Dogs are curious, and those lights might seem like new toys!
- Choose Durable Bulbs: Go for shatter-proof bulbs to avoid accidents.
- Unplug After the Shoot: Always unplug the lights when you’re done snapping pictures.
3. Add a Little Sparkle to your Dog’s Photo with Tinsel
Tinsel can add some holiday glam to your photo. Lay the tinsel around your dog and watch how cute your photos turn out. Again, don’t leave your dog unattended with the tinsel.
4. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Dog
I think this photo idea is so cute and have seen it recreated in different ways. My personal favorite is to hold a red Christmas tree ornament in front of your dog’s nose to create the illusion they have a nose like Rudolph. So Cute!
5. Posing in a Winter Wonderland
If you are lucky enough to live somewhere where it snows, snapping a picture of your dog with a snowy backdrop makes for a beautiful Christmas card photo. Snow is already so gorgeous so it makes for the perfect picture.
6. Picture with Santa
Nothing feels more “Christmas” than getting your picture made with Santa. Search your city’s website or Facebook pages (or google) to see if there are any Santa Pet Picture events happening locally. If not, get your dog a Santa hat and take your own pictures of Santa Paws yourself.
7. The Classic Family Christmas Card Portrait
Hey, it’s classic for a reason. This is a great way to feature the humans too. Get a festive holiday backdrop and include your pup in the picture.
8. Cozy in Holiday Pajamas
Did you have the holiday tradition of receiving new Christmas pjs on Christmas Eve every year? Why not take pictures of your pup in Christmas jammies? This would make your holiday card have such a cute and cozy vibe.
9. Posing with Presents
Picture your dog surrounded by a pile of vibrant, wrapped gifts (bonus points if you can get them to start unwrapping one).
10. Sweater Weather
Want something easy but still super cute and festive? Dress your dog in a dapper Christmas sweater. Or go the opposite way, and try for the ugly Christmas sweater look.
11. Wreaths of Joy
I think this idea is absolutely adorable and not difficult to achieve. Grab a Christmas wreath and put it around your dog like a collar.
