Keep Your Pup Happy, Safe, and Healthy

A healthy pup is a happy pup. Remember, treats should be given in moderation. According to PetMD, less than 10% of your dog’s diet should be treats. The other 90+ percent should be your dog’s regular healthy diet. Please keep in mind, this percentage is for a healthy dog with no prior health concerns.

  • Make sure there is never any XYLITOL in your dog’s peanut butter. This is very toxic for dogs.
  • Make sure to get rid of any seeds in necessary fruits (watermelon, honeydew, apples, etc.)
  • Always do your research before feeding your dog anything. This is your responsibility as a pet parent.

peanut butter dog ice lollies

Peanut Butter + Honey Dog Ice Lollies

You’ll be hard-pressed to find a dog that does not enjoy the delicious taste of peanut butter. These pupsicles will have a sticky consistency when they start to melt but they are worth it. A little mess means you are having fun, right?

Ingredients:

  • Natural Peanut Butter- NO XYLITOL (1/2 cup)
  • Plain Greek Yogurt (2-3 tablespoons)
  • Natural Honey (1 teaspoon)

Equipment:

  • Blender
  • Silicone molds/ice cube tray/popsicle tray

How to Make the Peanut Butter Pupsicles:

  1. Put the natural peanut butter, plain Greek yogurt, and honey into a blender.
  2. Mix until everything is blended and has a thick smoothie-like texture.
  3. Use a spoon to place into your silicone molds.
  4. Place in the freezer for 2-3 hours
  5. Enjoy!

PRO Tips to Make It More Fun

  1. Keep some pupsicles in the freezer to have on-hand. The silicone molds I use are inexpensive and make the treats oh-so-cute. You can also just use ice trays if you want to go that route.
  2. Use a long dog treat as an edible “popsicle” stick. Do NOT use regular popsicle sticks as they can be a choking hazard but use a dog treat instead.
  3. Try and make some savory options as well. Place some kibble bits into the mixture to add some texture to your pup’s frozen treat.

I hope you find these recipes easy and fun to make. While they are the perfect homemade dog treat for summer, my dogs enjoy them year-round. I hope yours do as well.
